Who Is Linda Horn

… I’m the woman in the photo… a woman who… like so many other people in this world… has had many diverse interests and many different career paths in her lifetime. Each Path has made me the “character” I am today… As an executive producer… director and cameraman… I’ve been one of the people responsible for many of the television commercials that you are familiar with… Before that I was a magazine editor, and before that a fashion director, and before that, a classical ballet dancer… But all my life… back to when I was a little girl and my grandmother instilled in me a love for beautiful things… a love for old things that have patina and the feel of something treasured… I have felt drawn to special objects… beautiful shapes… unusual “finds”. And it hasn’t ever been about money or provenance but about the feeling I have for that particular twisted chair or ponderous cabinet… that tiny twinkling silver clock… or a certain animal executed in bronze… wood… ceramic… It actually doesn’t matter if it’s precious gold or “common” white metal… What matters is the art… the personality… the craftsmanship… Because I’ve always felt that the way to decide whether something is for you is really very simple… Does it draw your attention? Do you look away… Only to feel the need to look again? …and again? …and again? Does it make you smile? Are you intrigued? Is your curiosity engaged? If the answer is yes, then you should have it… provided of course that you are comfortable with the price… And I really don’t think there is any better measure of “How much should I pay?” than “Is it worth that much to me?” Because more than likely the next time you see it… (if you ever do again)… it will undoubtedly cost more… And then there are the wonderful bargains that we all come across… beautiful intricate treasures undervalued in price just waiting for you to come along… Never pass those moments up… Never walk away from those hidden treasures… I’ve learned they don’t come along often.

So… since my frequent trips to Europe have resulted in quite a collection of fascinating antiques… things I just couldn’t leave behind… I decided to share some of my favorite things… Sometime in 1984… I opened my first store… And as I put it all together… I realized… I had developed a “look”… a Linda Horn Collection!

When we opened on Madison Avenue in New York… All the “neighborhood” loved us (thank God!)… and soon many of you that travel to the city came to love us too, making it a point to stop in and see us… Fifteen years later (is it really that long?) we’re still here… still trying to get it right… still trying to keep our finger on the pulse of what’s happening in the world… on the heartbeat of trends for the home… I just recently got back from Asia (truly amazing!) which means you’ll see my bamboo “finds” soon… But I’m constantly changing… traveling here and there… so my antiques and “re-creations” change too… transforming… switching around with each journey… Oh! Did I mention my “re-creations?”… Well… They’re a group of truly special designs… truly personal objects… things that I’ve loved so much, I’ve chosen to re-create them for you… at prices you can hardly pass up of course! It’s so exciting to be able to sell things that are affordable… and still special… still totally unique and inspiring… So we’re expanding… producing a limited collection of “re-creations”… They’re new but they have old breeding… Actually, they are my personal treasures given new life… Because as you know, everything “Old is New” again…

Oh!... my logo… The Lizard… He has become a “star”! Featured in all our attention-getting windows he’s quite a character… Have you spotted him yet?

Our windows have been called “One of the great retail sights of New York” because they combine “talking” mannequins with antique-driven environments… telling a story… making people laugh… provoking public comment… they definitely make a statement… So, if you’re in New York… you just have to visit… Then again… you can just stay at home… wander our website… and tour the store online…

Either way… come on in!
